FOREIGN TRADE

The country has experienced a trade surplus over the years.

The important exportable items of the country include gold, coal mining and manufacturing.
The exports partners of the country are UK, US, Japan, Germany, China and Italy.

Major importable items of the country are food, fuel and energy, and capital goods. The imports partners in the country are Germany, UK, US, Japan, Saudi Arabia and France.

The following diagram shows the levels of exports and imports of the country over the years. In the year 2004 total exports levels in the country was US $ 54,911 Millions with an imports level of US $ 45,287

CONCLUSION
The country joined the World Bank in the year 1945. Since then the bank has started many development projects in the country for achieving many development goals.

In February 2005, eight World Bank projects underway with a total of about US$15 million are working for South Africa.
The country is also a member of the World Trade Organization.
